In the meantime wines produced in the Cape region of South Africa have gained an excellent international standing and reputation. As early as in the 16th and 17th century European immigrants – mainly from France and Holland – started to cultivate vines they had brought along. Also the cuisine of southern Africa offers delights for every palate. It combines influences and ingredients of the various cultures that found a home in this region. Elements of Indian dishes are as present as elements of Malayan, Mediterranean, English and Dutch titbits.
